UFO (2022)
Project Details
All assets of the project was created by me. The main purpose was for fun, and as a supplemental portfolio piece.
Programs Used
Blender, Adobe Photoshop.
Interesting Info
This project uses multiple render passes to make the caustics, indirect lighting, glossy passes, and emission lighting appear softer and brighter.
The horizontal lines on the UFO are a procedurally generated bump map from a brick texture.
The Donut (2021)
Project Details
The infamous blender donut tutorial on YouTube. I took on this project to transfer my Autodesk Maya knowledge and skills to Blender.
Programs Used
Blender.
Interesting Info
Blender Guru's video. The tutorial was mostly followed to the letter, except for the odd bit of personal artistic flair.
Spinny Blocks (2021)
Project
This project followed a Blender tutorial from YouTube (DefaultCube) specific to learning newly updated geometry nodes functionality in 3.0.
Programs Used
Blender.
Interesting Info
For the duration of the video, starting with the bottom block rotating once, each following block spins one additional time up to the top block spinning 15 times.
There is no 3D modelling, all meshes are generated using a single geometry nodes cluster.
Tanwave Function (2022)
Project
This project followed was created due to me wanting to explore the ways you can animate mathematical functions and tie certain attributes to seemingly arbitrary variables such as Z position.
Programs Used
Blender 3.0
Interesting Info
The colours of the balls are explicitly tied to their Z value. The balls move along the Z axis based on the mathematical Tangent wave formula with an x value equal to the current number of frames that have passed in the animation.
All meshes are generated procedurally.
Softbody Physics Simulation (2021)
Project
This project followed a tutorial from YouTube on how to animate softbody physics efficiently and with added geometry node functions.
Programs Used
Blender 3.0
Interesting Info
These meshes are simply 2 dimensional circle primitives with geometry extruded at a set radius around the curve. Everything past the circle primitive is generated with geometry nodes and the material is a colour ramp with altered UV coordinates.
manually Keyframed Dance - (2015)
Project
The task was to create a manual keyframed dance, with a duration of 60 seconds minimum for a 3D animation class for my diploma program.
Programs Used
Autodesk Maya for animation, Adobe Photoshop for texture editing
Disclaimer
This project was completed in 2015 and shows a level of silliness not reflective of professional work (unless explicitly asked for). This is a showcase of my knowledge of basic animation principles.
